Be The Hero In A Childs Story, So They Can Be The Hero In Their Own Story:

Since 2010, Aerie Experiences has cared for and changed the lives of children (and their families) with complicated diagnoses and histories. Aerie specializes in children with complex neurobiological diagnoses (autism, LD, OCD, ADHD, etc.) coupled with developmental trauma. This means we work with kids facing what is effectively a double whammy. First, our kids perceive and interact with the world differently than societal/cultural “norms”. Second, our kids come to us with developmental trauma. The developmental trauma is negative changes in the brain caused by events or a series of experiences that interrupt the child’s ability to successfully achieve developmental benchmarks. As a result of this coupling of complicated diagnoses and developmental trauma, the kids all too frequently become enmeshed in a self-perpetuating cycle that interferes with the kid’s ability to healthily or safely participate in being a child.
Aerie is one of very few programs in the country specifically designed for these children. Through meaningful, engaging and intentional experiences, we help to re-wire our camper kid’s trauma brains and provide a loving, engaging and accepting environment for our kids to just be kids. For many of our campers, we are the only or one of a few places where they have friends and fit in. Once a child receives his or her first Aerie scholarship, that scholarship is extended for all of the years our camper kids need us. Aerie’s work is changing the lives of the children entrusted to us.
Since its founding, Aerie has provided over $245,000 in scholarships. Half of those scholarship dollars have been the result of our decision to reinvest most of what we earn back into our kids. The commitment to our kids is stronger than ever and, with your help, we can keep bringing in scholarship kids. At Aerie, we believe that every child deserves to have fun, learn what it feels like to belong, develop confidence in navigating life and, most importantly, be a child and smile.

All donations are tax deductible. 85% of all donations go directly to children’s scholarships and Aerie will match another 115%, meaning your donation is doubled in terms of what our kids and families receive from our scholarship fund, towards a child’s tuition and supportive year round services.
