Our Expressive Arts and Adventure Camp blooms on our private facility in an old-growth forest nestled within the gorgeous Oconee State Park. Featuring professional Guest Artists partnered with Aerie Staff, we offer our campers instruction in the arts of ceramics, theatre arts, folk crafts, music, and more! This camp is particularly designed for kids who enjoy and would benefit from an expressive arts environment where quirky is cool, the stars are clear, and your friends are goofy too. At our Expressive Arts Camp, we make sure each child has a voice, and we a quiet and listen.
Ceramics instruction will be led by our celebrated, professional guest artist. We have a theater-arts specialist on board as well. Folk craft, leather work, woodwork, stone work, bow making, and soap making will also be offered by our trained Aerie staff. While focusing on expression of self and metacognitive development, campers will also be building specific artistic and life skills as a fundamental goal of this camp. They will create objects of beauty and creativity of which they can be proud and feel ownership. Expressive Arts Camp is developmentally geared toward children who are often overlooked, who may feel misunderstood or unheard, who may be viewed as “quirky”–our “outside the box thinkers”! These children should have a strong voice in the world. These are the children who benefit from understanding and expressing their emotions in creative and artistic outlets. Our Expressive Arts campers will learn to better modulate and regulate themselves through the arts. Nestled within the natural beauty of the old-growth forest, the creative and playful environment of this camp is a child’s dream world where growth and learning are engaging, fun, and closely and gently guided by our all-star camp staff.
Whether your kiddo has no artistic skill or wants to further develop skills they have already discovered, Expressive Arts and Adventure Camp will have all the silliness, laughs, hugs, adventures, memory-making fun you expect from an Aerie camp! In addition to expressive arts, this camp includes archery, outdoor games and adventures, campfires, slip-and-slides, making life-long friends, and lots of bad jokes. Our Expressive Arts Camp is good for kids eight and up, including teenagers, and is perfect for either boys or girls.
Accommodations include our Bunk House, indoor showers and toilets, air conditioning and a professional kitchen.

This camp can be combined with our Paddle Trek (which takes place in North Georgia and North Carolina) for a two-week experience.

Aerie’s programs provide unique experiences that integrate and promote the overall individual treatment plan of each camper. Aerie coordinates directly with parents, practitioners and educators providing ongoing services in order to prepare each camper for the wilderness journey and to offer follow-up regarding the camper’s response to the summer camp experience.
